Motorcycle Helmet Cams With iPhone 4, 4G Streaming App Needed

Back in my younger days, I used to love to race my motorcycle around, as I had a Honda Hurricane, and later I traded that up for a 750 cc Slingshot. During that time I used to love to strap on a video camera on the side of my helmet with duct tape. This was of course 20 years ago and back then the video cameras were not small and compact like they are now, and the camera weighed quite a bit. Since I strapped it on to my helmet, I had to always hold my head at a certain angle to get the right shot, and over time my head would troop to one side.

It was quite fun to show those videotapes at parties, and it looked kind of funky as I would lean into a corner, and the video camera would be almost on the ground, depending on which direction I was making the turn, yes, I had scrap marks to prove it! Today however I have a better idea; since the iPhone 4 has apps for the 4G video streaming. It would be very easy to strap one of these smart phones onto the front of the motorcycle near the headlight, and go hog wild in the canyons or on the track and get some great footage.

Not only that, but you could do it in real time streaming video. Meaning your friends could watch as you cruise through the canyon on their iPhones. Meanwhile you could save it all and post it later to YouTube, or use it for a homemade movie. Indeed, the same helmet cams could be used for Skydiving, base jumping, or all sorts of other high adrenaline rush activities. That would be so cool, and best of all, all this technology exists now.

The other day I called a friend who is a former Semi-Pro Street bike racer in the 500 cc class. He said he'd look into it, but he heard that some folks were already doing this, albeit using slightly different technology. He liked my concept because it wouldn't cost very much to deploy this technology and use it for this purpose. In fact, he has a 4G iPhone 4, and he is considering going out and trying it. It makes perfect sense, and it would be a good way to hone your skills, and learn from your mistakes.

After all, mistakes in racing can cost you life or limb, or a ton of money if you crash. Therefore, it seems this technology could increase safety in motorcycle racing. Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.

Tips on Buying a Scooter or Motorcycle Helmet

Here are 6 Tips you can use to determine which helmet you should buy to wear when riding your electric scooter or electric motorcycle. The differences types of helmets for sale come in the type of motorcycle or scooter- whether you are riding a racer or short trip scooter for example. Here are some basic tips to use in buying any type of helmet.

Tip 1: Size Matters. Getting the right fit by knowing the size charts of the manufacturer. Every manufacturer provides a size chart that lists the size- XS for example with the inches and maybe the centimeters. This is just the beginning. Find out the ear to ear measurement and the front to back measurement.

Tip 2: DOT Certified. Since you are going to wear a helmet you should know if it meets or exceeds the DOT Specifications. This means that the helmet is Department of Transportation approved and will help protect you in the event of a crash or fall.

Tip 3: The shell material and size differences are something to really examine. Helmets for sale are as different as the heads they are designed for. The weight of the material should be lightweight to be comfortable. The shell for the different sizes should be manufactured in different sizes - the sizes shouldn't change by just adding padding. At least look at this and make your own decision.

Tip 4: Read the information about the face shield. Is there a removable visor? Is it compatible for a face shield? Can you easily wear glasses with or without the face shield?

Tip 5: Look for a warranty of some kind and if an owner's manual is available. You don't have to read the manual - but more than likely the better helmets will have one available.

Tip 6: What about the EPS Liner? How thick is it? This might be important to you depending on the type of riding you do and what kind of distance you will travel. Some liners are more comfortable thinner - let's say 1 inch while others come 1.5 to 2 inches.

Looking at these 6 Tips makes buying the right helmet for the type of electric motorcycle or electric scooter you ride a lot easier. Why not get the right helmet the first time? With the different vehicles, bicycles, motorcycles and scooters you might need several different helmets. There are hundreds of types of helmets for sale- but only a few that fit your head and your biking needs.

Tips For Selecting A Motorcycle Helmet

If you are purchasing a motorcycle helmet for the first time, there are certain steps you need to take to make sure that it is safe for use. First, keep in mind that having your helmet fit properly is crucial for it to work in the way it is intended to. You cannot simply go by manufacturer size charts, as a small from one manufacturer may not fit the same as a small from another. The best way to determine which helmet is the best fit for you is to try on multiple models. However, before you even start your search for the best motorcycle helmet for you, you need to begin by measuring your head. To do this, use a cloth tape measure and measure your head's circumference at about one inch above your eyebrows. If you wear hats, you should also keep your hat size in mind as you start your search for the perfect helmet.

Once you know the circumference of your head, you are ready to start trying out helmets. However, keep in mind that even though two people may have the exact same head circumference measurement, the shape of their head may still vary enough that one helmet may not fit both individuals properly.

As you start looking at helmets, you can easily disqualify unsuitable helmets based on the knowledge you now have about your measurement by looking at the sizing tag printed on the helmet. Once you have found a helmet that seems to be a suitable candidate, your next step is to try it on and check the fit. The helmet should be snug on your head and all the pads should tough the appropriate spots. You should try moving the helmet on your head with your hands. If it is fitted properly, your skin should move with the helmet. If it moves easily on your head, it is too loose. You will actually want the helmet to be quite snug when you purchase it, since over time, as it breaks in, the fit will loosen up a little bit.

You also want to make sure you test the chin strap on the helmet. The purpose of the chin strap is to make sure the helmet does not come off during a collision, so once you have the chin strap fastened, try reaching over the top of the helmet and pulling it off. If it comes off, you need a smaller helmet.

Although it is often preferable to try a helmet on in physical stores, you can often get quite good deals on helmets online. If you are purchasing a helmet online, be sure that the site displays all the measurements for the helmet before you purchase it. You also want to check out the refund policy as well, since you do not want any hassles if you need to return it.

By following these tips, you should be able to find a motorcycle helmet that fits great. There are also many other great motorcycle accessories that can be purchased online.
